Trina Benson

Community Partnerships Coordinator 

 Trina Benson was born in Warren, Ohio and is a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley in Ohio.  She received a BA in Journalism from Youngstown State University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix. 
Trina is also a graduate of the 2013 Raymond John Wean Foundation’s Emerging Leaders Program and the Leadership Mahoning Valley 2015 cohort.  In 2016 she was inducted into the League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown’s Hall of Fame. In 2020 she was selected as one of Youngstown State University’s Penguin Women on the Move.
With more than 15 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Trina has extensive experience in grant writing, community development and engagement, capacity building, youth development and public policy. She has completed race, equity and inclusion training and she is passionate about work that supports a resident led approach to equitable community building.
